Chicken Shashlik in Nut Marinade

Ingredients
500 g (=1.1 lb) chicken breast
1 bunch green (spring) onions
2 garlic cloves
1/2 lemon (just juice)
50 g (=1/2 cup) ground nuts (walnuts are especially popular in Russia. But you can use peanuts.)
2 tbsp oil (for best flavour choose a nut oil that fits to the nuts used in the marinade)
  salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Finely chop green onions, grind nuts and mix well. Add oil and garlic crashed in a garlic press. Mix well again.
  2. Cut chicken into cubes (5-6 cm (=2 inches)). Season to taste with salt and pepper. Rub marinade into chicken cubes.
  3. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  4. Thread chicken cubes onto skewers and grill. Serve with hot tomato sauce.
